Beach Harbour Caleta de Fuste

Families and couples will adore beach holidays in Fuerteventura's Costa Caleta, or Caleta de Fustes as it's called by the locals. That's because this modern whitewashed resort offers bucket loads of fun and relaxation thanks to it glorious sands and near-constant sunshine. The resort is fronted by a long palm-studded promenade that fixes its sights firmly on the beautiful crescent-shaped horse-shoe bay. Stroll along the palm-studded walkway to cherry-pick your place on the satiny sands and settle for the day to absorb the rays. Play in the shallow crystalline seas or feel the rush of a parascending or windsurfing session.

For lunch try an al fresco restaurant at the plaza, marina or harbour and you'll soon have the hang of holidays in Costa Caleta. If a round of golf on Caleta’s championship golf course sounds too much like hard work then you can amble along the seafront to admire the picturesque 18th century watchtower and castle overlooking the colorful marina. When you need to refuel, head for the main plaza, bursting with restaurants and good value eateries dishing up British favorites and Canarian staples such as fresh shrimps smothered in garlic-rich olive oil. Down a cold beer or wine and you'll feel ready for the beach again.

North of the main beach heading toward s the marina and harbour is the area for water sports- everything from Jet Ski to wind surfing to scuba diving and all levels of skills are catered for including lessons for the beginners. Around the harbour area you can relax with a drink and watch the boats coming and going or take a trip on the luxury catamaran to go swimming with dolphins or go whale watching. A number of boat trips set off from here. There is also a floating oceanarium with a sea lion that puts on a free public performance. Past the harbour the coastline changes to rugged rocky bays where the waves crash in. This area is really popular with fishermen angling for tuna which quite often appears on the menus of local restaurants the same evening! Around this area is an attractive sea front promenade which stretches all the way to Nuevo Horizonte.

As the day cools the night comes alive, Caleta de Fuste is blessed with a large choice of restaurants so whatever your taste in food, you are bound to find something. It also has one of four top restaurants on the island honored as being among the best in Spain. There is also a variety of night life in the evenings. Many bars lay on entertainment, everything from live acts to karaoke, quizzes and bingo. You are welcome to use any of the hotel complexes which often have cabaret acts on and a varied entertainment programme catering for families and young children. Some of the larger hotels have some very high quality acts (expect to pay a little more at the bar though). The Castillo Centre has music most nights on the open-air stage and later bars can also be found here. But there are still plenty of quiet cafes and bars where you can relax in the warm evening and just watch the world go by.
